The Center for Nonprofit Advancement is the Washington, DC region's catalyst for advancing nonprofits by being the most comprehensive resource for education and training, networking, advocacy and buying opportunities for nonprofits in the Washington region.

CompassPoint Nonprofit Services

CompassPoint Nonprofit Services is a consulting, research, and training organization providing nonprofits with management tools, strategies, and resources to lead change in their communities. Topics include strategic planning, financial management, board development and fund raising. CompassPoint also provides an electronic newsletter for members of nonprofit boards of directors called Board Café.

Free Management Library

The Library provides comprehensive resources related to leadership and management of for-profit or nonprofit organizations. The Library is a free community resource to be shared and contributed to by users and authors across the world.


Idealist is a project of Action Without Borders. The site provides a listing of over 58,000 nonprofit and community organizations in 165 countries, volunteer opportunities and a nonprofit career center.

Leader to Leader Institute

Established in 1990 as the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management, the mission of the Leader to Leader Institute is to strengthen the leadership of the social sector by providing leaders with inspiration and resources to lead for innovation and to build vibrant social sector organizations. The Leader to Leader Institute provides innovative and relevant resources, products and experiences that enable leaders of the future to address emerging opportunities and challenges.

National Center for Charitable Statistics

The National Center for Charitable Statistics is the national clearinghouse of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States. NCCS is a program of the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at the Urban Institute.

Nonprofit Community Resource Center, a program of the Center for Community Research and Service, University of Delaware

The Nonprofit Community Center provides information, training, and technical assistance to nonprofit and community-based organizations and to public agencies serving low- and moderate income families & communities. It houses a library of resources for community and economic development, nonprofit management, and affordable housing and coordinates several practitioner training workshops and courses.

Nonprofit Good Practice Guide, the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership

The Nonprofit Good Practice Guide is a project of the Philanthropic and Nonprofit Knowledge Management Initiative (PNKM) at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership. The Johnson Center has a strong focus on community service. They are dedicated to the study and teaching of philanthropy, volunteerism and nonprofit management.
